Work without play makes Jack a dull boy. The English man saying seems to have been abused in Kiganjo Mixed Day Secondary school where students demanded to be allowed to study less and play more. In a bid to have their plea implemented the students boycotted their end of term examinations and asked the school administration to buy them more balls and skipping ropes since their minds were exhausted an needed more play than class work.
The school principle Esther Chege sent the students home the following day and asked them to report back on Monday with their parents. When they reported on the expected date, a meeting was conveyed by the administration with the parents and one woman could not stand the thought that the kids were however wishing to play more rather than studying and passed out as others wept.
The parents and teaching fraternity agreed that the students must sit for exams. Some parents suggested caning as the best antidote for the students’ ‘madness’
