A political meeting in Yatta, Machakos County was yesterday disrupted after a snake emerged at the venue causing major confusion as people scampered for safety.
Among the leaders in the meeting was Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU) party leader Wavinya Ndeti and was forced to temporarily halt her rally a the huge snake appeared.
The screaming started minutes after Ms Wavinya and her party Secretary General Saja Philipe and they had to scamper for safety on top of a table before the security detail could get rid of the intruding serpent.
Residents intervened and killed the serpent after which the scared leaders returned to the meeting.
Immediately after the incident, speculations had it that the snake could have been sent to the location by political rivals, with locals terming the incident extraordinary.
The leaders had just opened an office at Makutano market where they vowed to support Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka if CORD picks him as its Presidential flag bearer.
