Marcos Cafu has praised his compatriot Neymar, saying that “in the last 15 years Brazil have not had a player” like the current Barcelona forward.
“Neymar Junior is our best player. In the last 15 years we have not had a player like him. Technically he’s so good,” said Cafu in a chat with the press before a charity game in Roma. “Step by step he’s become the leader of the Brazil national side.”
The former Real Zaragoza, Roma and Milan player, among others, also said that playing in Barcelona will allow Neymar to grow even more. “Any player benefits from playing there. They’re one of the best clubs in the world and they play great football.”
Cafu is taking part in a match promoted by Pope Francisco which is raising money to help children in need in Argentina and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Among the former players taking part in the event on Wednesday are Diego Maradona, Ronaldinho and Francesco Totti.
