"My son suddenly changed and became hostile to family," says Quincy's mother

Rosemeg Wambita is grief-stricken, as she tries to survive in her one-bedroom house in Kisumu’s sprawling Manyatta slums. Her son, Quincy Timberlake, is facing a murder trial over her grandchild’s death in Kallangur, Australia, where he had settled with former TV presenter Esther Arunga. Timberlake’s mother loves her first born son, and cannot understand how he changed, she tells The Nairobian in an interview while sitting on a 20-litre jerrycan in the small sitting room that has no electricity. Here, Timberlake’s younger brother, Robert Odinga, is nursing an injury following a motorcycle accident that left him maimed.

The 34-year-old can hardly walk. The mother learnt of his grandson’s death through the media, while Odinga informed her that Timberlake, whom she last spoke to and saw in September 2009, had been arrested.
